Educating, training, and the skills gap
An interesting article on the skills gap and the question of increasing human capital through appropriate education
The question of "how to increase human capital through appropriate education and training" is critical, as are the questions who pays, who profits, who benefits. What's good for industry and what's good for society are often at odds. Is the priority of education to train skilled industry workers that "hit the ground running," or should education enable independent, creative, thinking minds that also contribute to the world beyond the workplace?
